MetaQuotes, the fintech company behind the widely-used MetaTrader platforms, has announced that support for older versions of MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) will cease on December 1, 2024. After this date, only specific versions of both platforms will remain supported, with older versions being unable to connect to broker servers.

The minimum supported version for MT4 will be build 1420, released on May 24, 2024, while the minimum supported version for MT5 will be build 4410, released on June 21, 2024. Users still operating older versions beyond the cutoff date will need to update to avoid disruptions in connectivity.

MetaQuotes has been actively enhancing its platforms in recent months, releasing several key updates that aim to improve performance, security, and usability. Over the past six months, MT5 has seen four notable updates, addressing issues such as platform stability, browser compatibility, and improving MQL5 support for matrix computations. In addition, MetaQuotes has introduced new visual tools like crosshair mode and customizable Market Watch for the web version of MT5. The updates also enhance security features, ensuring a more reliable trading experience.

For MT4 users, while fewer updates have been released compared to MT5, MetaQuotes continues to focus on improving performance and strengthening security, particularly for the platform’s Market service.

MetaQuotes emphasizes that updating to the latest versions is crucial, as each version introduces critical improvements that enhance the trading experience and protect against potential vulnerabilities. The company urges all users to upgrade promptly to avoid service interruptions and to take advantage of the new tools and features offered in the latest builds.

This move by MetaQuotes underscores its commitment to maintaining a secure and robust trading environment across its platforms, ensuring that both MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 remain reliable tools for traders worldwide.
